Words have power! Stories told in 280 characters, or a 1,000 blog, or a 10,000 ebook. We like the way they help us make sense of, well, anything. And sometimes, everything.
They elevate ideas and seed strong relationships. They transform businesses, communities, causes. In a loud, sophisticated marketplace – during a post-truth era of fluctuating economies and unstable climates – being deep and authentic matters.

My hope is that your leadership, policies and activities actively seek to leave the world in a better place than you found it. That you believe in sustainability on all levels – that you’re invested in a robust net zero policy, support volunteering in your communities, are diligent about natural resources, and respect and care for your workforce and customers.

… and for the Earth
Many people are trying to do good in their lives. Many brands and organisations are committing to use their influence to do the same. I’m like you – I want to use what I love and what I’m skilled at for a bigger purpose. Even small stones make ripples. I love writing, words, stories. I love empathy, ethics, truth, authentic connections. My ripples and your ripples could stir up quite the sea-change.
My copy is unlikely to single-handedly cap global temperatures or bring about world peace. ‘For the Earth’ is the acknowledgement that, as a human being living in remarkable times, I have a responsibility to use my skills and my time here well.
For me, this means using my skills and time to support people who are doing really critical work… who help even more people do other really critical work. Success lies in collaboration. We need the artists as well as the scientists and builders and healers and visionaries. I’m part of the answer, like you.
Being authentic
The legend of The Children’s Fire speaks of a council of elders, who decided how they would shape a better future – that “No law, no decision, no action, nothing of any kind will be made that will harm the children”.
My interest in this legend took place at Embercombe, Devon, in 2021. Copy Rising is the manifestation of part of a promise I made there.
